Ongoing Community Initiatives
Weekly Free Community Meals in Newberg
Local churches provide warm, welcoming meals for individuals and families in need—no questions asked. Meals can normally be enjoyed in-house or taken to go, and you can typically expect a main dish, one to two sides, dessert, and water. While meals are generally served as-is and do not offer customizations, we encourage individuals with allergies or dietary restrictions to reach out to the host church directly. With a few days’ notice, there’s a good chance that reasonable accommodations can be made.
These events are a great opportunity to volunteer, donate food, or simply serve with kindness.
Meal Schedule:
- Monday: Monday Meals at Zion Lutheran Church
301 S. River Street | 5:30–7:00 p.m. - Wednesday: Simple Suppers at River Street Church
715 S. River Street | 6:00–7:00 p.m. - Thursday: Community Kitchen at Newberg Christian Church
2315 Villa Road | 5:30–7:00 p.m. - Friday: St. Peter’s Catholic Church
2315 N. Main Street | 5:30–6:30 p.m.

More Ways to Get Involved
These are just a few community involvement examples that show how small businesses and individuals alike can make a meaningful impact.
Getting involved isn’t just about giving—it’s also about receiving. Volunteering has been shown to improve mental health, strengthen skills, and build lasting connections. For companies, corporate community involvement helps employees feel proud of their workplace and deepens community trust.
Supporting local charitable organizations, participating in community service, and joining outreach efforts can create lasting outcomes for families, children, and those most at risk. Whether through a food drive, clothing donation, or blood donation campaign, every contribution matters.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. You might:
- Sponsor a local event or youth program
- Contribute to a community garden
- Educate others on local resources
- Partner with a nonprofit to support kids or families
- Encourage your team to volunteer as part of your company’s giving program
Whatever form it takes, engagement in the community helps create better outcomes across education, public health, and local business growth.
We also encourage members to stay informed about events hosted by the Chehalem Cultural Center and other organizations that focus on art, culture, and social impact. These are great opportunities to both give back and connect with others who care about making a difference.
