Clara begins to dream…

The Nutcracker has become a classic holiday tradition, along with glittery outdoor lights and Christmas carols. So what distinguishes CVDA’s Nutcracker production from all the  others?

First of all, every dollar earned from admission supports local charities. This year Love, INC.Faith in Actionand F.I.S.H. will benefit from CVDA’s Nutcracker. In the past three years we have raised over $21,000, directly impacting needy people in our community. This is a legacy we are committed to and very proud of.

The Snow Pas rehearses

When you attend CVDA’s Nutcracker, not only will your money help the welfare of others, you’ll be treated to a spectacular production. We partner with the Newberg High School Theater Department to create sets with professional and artistic elements you won’t see in a typical “hometown” show.

Waltz of the Snowflakes

We have the good fortune of working with a professional stage director who oversees all the minor prop details that add up to unforgettable! A magical set will transport the audience to a winter wonderland: snow falling, live flocked trees, sparkling lights…get ready to be wowed!

Approximately 72 dancers will participate in this year’s Nutcracker. They auditioned in June and rehearsed all summer and fall, which means they’re extremely well-prepared. The dancers will deliver the joy of live performance when they visit retirement facilities in Newberg on December 7th….yet another way we value community outreach.

Another distinction of CVDA’s Nutcracker is our gorgeous costuming. You may notice Swarovski rhinestones and other embellishments that enhance the classic costumes. We have 2-3 volunteers who tailor costumes each year. We reuse most costumes, but we appreciate the Performing Company Booster Club that helps raise money  to purchase costumes for particular characters.
