Favorite Happy Hour/Tasting Room/Bar in the Valley: Lucky Fortune…just kidding. I would have to say Ruddick/Wood. The rumors are true it’s fantastic and they just opened the restaurant.
Best Restaurant in the Valley: La Rambla & Kame Japanese Restaurant in McMinnville. I am always impressed with the attention to detail. I always leave satisfied and get maximum value with a high quality experience.
Finish this sentence…”I know this makes me sound old but…” I remember when kids played outside and only watched television on the weekends.
The worst movie I have ever seen is: Anything with Nicolas Cage. The movie “Faceoff” is the worst. There is Nicolas Cage being himself and John Travolta trying to act like Nicolas Cage.
Advice for my high-school self: Oh boy, I would tell myself to have more courage and have more of a commitment to being healthy.
Group/organization/demographic you are most driven to help: Youth & community mentorship. Disc golf has been a positive, healthy release for me throughout my life. I would love to share that experience with more people. Disc golf can provide something for everyone!
When I have a day off I: My wife and I are both very busy, so we make time for each other. We like to go to movies and hang out with friends. I, of course, play disc golf every chance I get…. which isn’t often these days. 🙂
When I have an out-of-town visitor, the top 3 things they should do in Yamhill Valley are… 1. Go play disc golf (Newberg, McMinnville, Carlton, Amity) 2. Wine Tasting, duh 3. Watch a movie at the Drive-In, classic!
Yamhill Valley really needs… A large outdoor concert theater and sharks with lasers on their heads.
Additional info: I have been with my wife for almost 7 years! We have been married for almost 2 years! We do not have children yet, but getting close. We are both busy professionals that enjoy donating time back into the community. I am part of the Early Bird Rotary Club and founder of the Chehalem Valley Disc Golf Club. CVDGC is a local disc golf club dedicated to connecting to the community to improve park quality, safety and accessibility for everyone. The focus of the club is to improve youth and family involvement while educating people about the sport many personal benefits. I also volunteer for habitat for humanity and am the disc golf event coordinator for Newberg Old Fashioned Festival.
I am a big dreamer and always have my head in the clouds. My wife helps to keep me grounded. I love to meet new people and get them excited about disc golf too. I look forward to the day we connect and share ideas!
Chris Fanger is chasing his dream. He grew up in Newberg and now that he is an adult, he has realized the importance of community involvement. Chris is an active member of Young Professionals and recently became a member of the Newberg Early Bird Rotary Club. Friends say that he is extremely motivated and driven but with a laid-back personality. We look forward to the new addition of the Disc Golf Tournament to the Newberg Old Fashioned Festival this year, which is headed up by Chris himself. He works hard to bring attention to our valley from regional and national disc golf enthusiasts. Hit him up for some disc (I’m guessing he will beat you).
